In the realm of animated absurdity, few shows hold a candle to Dan Harmon’s “Krapopolis.” The season two finale, “Ty Died,” airing Sunday, May 18 at 9:02 PM ET/PT on FOX, finds our hapless hero, Ty, in the midst of yet another existential crisis. Feeling underappreciated (a recurring theme for Ty), he sets out to prove his worth to his dysfunctional family of humans, gods, and monsters. What could possibly go wrong? Well, given this is “Krapopolis,” quite a lot.
Expect the usual blend of mythological mayhem, questionable parenting, and sibling rivalry that makes the show so enjoyably ridiculous. With a voice cast that includes Hannah Waddingham, Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, Pam Murphy, and Duncan Trussell, the comedic talent on display is almost unfair. They elevate the show’s often-juvenile humor with a touch of dry wit that keeps things from going fully off the rails (though they come pretty close).
