Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is bringing back the duo of Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp, who previously appeared together in the hit movie “Christmas Waltz” and “Love, Romance & Chocolate.” This time, they star in an all-new mystery titled “The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango” set in the competitive world of ballroom dance. Based on a story by Kemp and Aubrey Day, the film is being shot entirely on location in Malta and is produced by Leif Films Media.
In the film, Chabert plays Constance Bailey, a detective with a no-nonsense attitude who prefers to work alone. When a high-profile CEO is murdered on the eve of his company’s corporate event in Malta – a high stakes ballroom competition between senior executives – Detective Bailey is sent undercover as one of the contestants. The only problem? She can’t dance. To convincingly compete, she teams up with free-spirited performer Sebastian Moore, played by Kemp. With a killer on the loose and a growing list of suspects, the two must use more than just fancy footwork to solve the case.
Elizabeth Yost, Senior Vice President of Programming and Development at Hallmark Media, said, “After the success of ‘Christmas Waltz,’ viewers have been clamoring for another movie with this charismatic duo. When Will came to us with this fun spin on a whodunnit, we knew that it was the perfect opportunity to reunite him with Lacey.”
The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango is from Leif Films Media. Leif Bristow, Will Kemp, and Lacey Chabert are executive producers. Agnes Bristow, Borga Dorter, Colin Azzopardi, and Mark Vennis are producers. Stefan Scaini directed from a script by Aubrey Day, based on a story and characters created and developed by Aubrey Day and Will Kemp.
