Thursday night on Late Night with Seth Meyers, we’re getting a potent cocktail of comedy and, well, more comedy, with a dash of handsome British vampire. Sure, that’s an oversimplification, but with John Mulaney, Simon Rich, and Nicholas Hoult on the guest list, it’s hard not to anticipate a lively and entertaining hour of television.
Mulaney, a Late Night regular and comedic force of nature, always delivers with his intricate, self-deprecating anecdotes. Whether he’s dissecting the absurdities of everyday life or riffing on his own personal misadventures, Mulaney’s appearances are reliably funny. One can only hope he brings a new story about his adventures as a New York City dog owner.
Then we have Simon Rich, a humorist known for his quirky, often surreal writing. He’ll be discussing his new book, “Glory Days.” Now, “Glory Days” sounds awfully optimistic for a Simon Rich project, which usually lean towards the hilariously bleak. I’m curious to see if he’s gone soft, or if “glory” is being used ironically.
Finally, Nicholas Hoult, the eternally boyish face now gracing the new “Nosferatu” film, will grace the Late Night couch. It’s always interesting to see how actors known for dramatic roles navigate the late-night talk show circuit, and I’ll be tuning in to see if he is adept at comedic banter, or if he defaults to his typical brooding intensity.
Late Night with Seth Meyers airs weeknights at 12:35 am on NBC.
