This Thursday, “Law & Order” tackles a thorny case that examines the very nature of heroism. In “Folk Hero,” a murder suspect becomes an unlikely underground public icon, complicating matters significantly for Detective Cosgrove and the team. When a suspect appears to be in multiple places at once, Cosgrove has to think outside the box, even enlisting the help of a former colleague to crack the case.
But catching the alleged killer is only half the battle. The suspect’s newfound “hero” status creates a PR nightmare, igniting conflicts between Baxter, Price, and Maroun as they grapple with how to proceed. “Folk Hero” looks set to be a classic “Law & Order” moral quandary, where the lines between justice and public opinion become increasingly blurred. Can the team negotiate the court of public opinion while upholding the law?
