Life on the Water: Sailfish Time (Discovery, Sunday, April 27, 2025)

Life on the Water Key Art

This Sunday, Discovery’s “Life on the Water” takes us on a high-seas adventure in pursuit of one of the ocean’s most impressive game fish: the sailfish. Captain Brandon Simmons, the heart and soul of the series, teams up with a special guest for this episode, former MLB star Doug Mientkiewicz.

Mientkiewicz, who boasts a World Series ring and an Olympic gold medal, trades his bat and glove for a fishing rod as he joins Captain Simmons on the hunt for sailfish. For Simmons, catching these majestic creatures is more than just a sport; it’s a passion. He knows the waters, understands the fish, and approaches every outing with infectious enthusiasm.

“Life on the Water” isn’t just about the thrill of the catch. The series takes a look at the on-the-water lifestyle through Simmons’ eyes, from the quiet beauty of the open ocean to the adrenaline rush of reeling in a prize catch. Expect plenty of fishing action, of course, but also some entertaining banter and camaraderie between Simmons and Mientkiewicz as they work together to land a sailfish.
