Lifetime is launching a new movie franchise, Temptations, following the success of its Seven Deadly Sins films. The first two films, Desire and Fame, come from Derrick Williams and Adriane Hopper Williams of DNA Media Group.
Here’s the Lowdown: Desire: A Temptations Story, premiering Saturday, April 19 at 8/7c, stars Tasha Smith (Survival of the Thickest) as Kendra, a talk show host who experiences a whirlwind romance and marries Malcolm, played by Adrian Holmes (Bel-Air). However, Malcolm’s past creates problems, leading Kendra down a risky road. The film also features Jamall Johnson, Millan Tesfazgi and Miranda Edwards.
What This Means Now: Lifetime continues its successful formula of original movies based on popular themes. This new franchise appears to follow a similar structure to the Seven Deadly Sins series, focusing on different aspects of temptation.
The Bigger Picture: Fame: A Temptations Story follows on Saturday, April 26 at 8/7c. This film features real-life singers Keri Hilson (Almost Christmas) and Keshia Chanté (Law & Order, 106 & Park) as sisters and a popular singing duo, Cherish and Roxy, plagued by rivalry. A jewel heist forces them to confront their issues. Romeo Miller and Ecstasia Sanders also star. Both movies are directed by Robert Adetuyi.
