Limited Series “The Last Thing He Told Me,” Trailer Drop From Apple TV+

The gripping limited series “The Last Thing He Told Me,” which is based on the acclaimed, #1 New York Times bestselling novel by Laura Dave, debuted its trailer today on Apple TV+. The seven-part drama, executive produced by and starring Jennifer Garner, also stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Angourie Rice, Aisha Tyler, Augusto Aguilera, Geoff Stults, and John Harlan Kim. Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and 20th Television are the producers of “The Last Thing He Told Me,” which will make its global Apple TV+ debut on Friday, April 14, 2023 with the first two episodes. Thereafter, new episodes will air every Friday through May 19.

The show centers on Hannah (played by Garner), a woman who must establish a bond with her stepdaughter Bailey (played by Rice), who is 16, in order to learn the reason behind her husband’s mysterious disappearance.

“The Last Thing He Told Me,” written and directed by Laura Dave with Oscar-winning co-creator Josh Singer, is their first joint effort as executive producers alongside Garner, Hello Sunshine’s Reese Witherspoon, and Lauren Neustadter. Hello Sunshine, who optioned the book from author Laura Dave and serves as the studio on the project with 20th Television, is producing the series for Apple. The series’ all-female director lineup also includes Deniz Gamze Erguven, Daisy Von Scherler Mayer, and Lila Neugebauer, with Olivia Newman directing the pilot episode.

The novel “The Last Thing He Told Me” by Simon & Schuster was released in hardcover on May 4, 2021, and it immediately shot to the top of the New York Times bestseller list and stayed on the list for over a year. The Last Thing He Told Me won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Thriller/Suspense of 2021, was named an Amazon Best Book of the Year and an Apple Best Book of the Year in 2021, and in 2022, it ranked as the most popular e-book and one of the most frequently checked out books from libraries nationwide. The book has been widely acclaimed and has sold over 2 million copies in the United States alone as well as in 38 other nations, including the UK, where Richard and Judy chose it for their bookclub. The first printing of “The Last Thing He Told Me” in paperback will take place on March 21, 2023, and preorders are being taken now.
