Limited Series “V.C. Andrews’ Dawn” Premieres This July on Lifetime
The new limited series V.C. Andrews’ Dawn, based on the author’s Dawn Cutler novels, will premiere on Lifetime on Saturday, July 8 at 8/7c, with subsequent episodes airing every Saturday night until July 29.
What is the new limited series about
The new four-part limited series delves into the murky pasts of the Cutler, Booth, and Longchamp families, as depicted in Andrews’ Dawn, Secrets of the Morning, Twilight’s Child, and Midnight Whispers novels. Emmy® winner Donna Mills (Nope) will play Lillian Cutler, opposite Brec Bassinger (Stargirl) in the title role of Dawn Longchamp. Joey McIntyre (New Kids on the Block) will play Michael Sutton, Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives) will play Ormand Longchamp, Khobe Clarke (Yellowjackets) will play Jimmy Longchamp, and Fran Drescher (Emmy nominee) will play Agnes Morris in the upcoming film.

Additional cast includes Jason Cermak as Dawn’s father Randolph Cutler; Miranda Frigon as Dawn’s mother, Laura Jean Cutler; Megan Best as Dawn’s teenage daughter Christie; as well as Elyse Maloway (The Magicians) and Dane Schioler (Prom Pact) as Dawn’s siblings Clara Jean and Philip Cutler. In addition, Corey Woods plays Dawn’s boarding school roommate, Tricia; and Helena Marie plays Sally Longchamp, Dawn’s adoptive mother.
What to expect from the series
Part 1: Dawn (Airing Saturday, July 8 @ 8/7c)
Dawn tells the story of Dawn Longchamp (Bassinger), who has had everything she loves taken from her suddenly after growing up in modest surroundings with a very hardworking family, including her devoted father Ormand (Metcalfe) and older brother Jimmy (Clarke). The revelation of the terrible truth about her foster parents forces her into a new family whose dark and twisted secrets alter the course of her life irrevocably. While Dawn is trying to find her place in the world, her wicked grandmother Lillian Cutler (Mills) rules her life with an iron fist and punishes her harshly when she disobeys. A dark and unbreakable curse hangs over the Cutlers, as Dawn discovers when she becomes entangled in the family’s mysteries.
Part 2: Secrets of the Morning (Airing Saturday, July 15 @ 8/7c)
Dawn (Bassinger) gains the upper hand with her grandmother Lilian (Mills) after revealing some disturbing details about her past, and she plans her move to New York City so that she can attend the best performing arts school there. Dawn, who lives in a boarding house run by an aging actress named Agnes Morris (Drescher), cannot shake her dreams about Jimmy and the painful secrets she and Jimmy share. New teacher and Broadway star Michael Sutton (McIntyre) has his sights set on Dawn. Dawn is captivated by his charms, but when he suddenly vanishes, she finds herself back at the mercy of her evil grandmother.
Part 3: Twilight’s Child (Saturday, July 22 @ 8/7c)
After being reunited with Jimmy, Dawn is free and happy as Mrs. Longchamp, raising her beautiful daughter Christie as a wife and mother. Even though Dawn is the rightful owner of the Cutler’s Cove Hotel and is able to turn it around, she is haunted by her grandmother’s vengeful spirit. Dawn’s dream is threatened once again when she learns that her brother Philip is still obsessed with her and that her spiteful sister Clara’s rage has exploded into violence.
Part 4: Midnight Whispers (Saturday, July 29 @ 8/7c)
Christie (Best), Dawn’s only child, grew up in a warm and nurturing home, but a tragic loss soon engulfs her family. While trying to comfort herself, she learns even more shocking information about her Uncle Philip. After discovering her biological father in New York, Christie seeks refuge with Jimmy’s half-brother Gavin and returns to the plantation where she was born, known as The Meadows. Will Christie be able to break the curse that has plagued her family for generations?

The V.C. Andrews’ Dawn limited series is executive produced by Merideth Finn, Michele Weiss, Timothy Johnson and Stacy Mandelberg, with Oliver De Caigny as supervising producer and Navid Soofi serving as producer. Finn and Weiss also executive produced Lifetime’s 2014 Flowers in the Attic and Petals on the Wind. Associate producers include Thomas Stanford, Grant O’Kane, Tim Spence, and Darren Robson. Linda-Lisa Hayter directs the first two movies Dawn and Secrets of the Morning, and Jacquie Gould directs Twilight’s Child and Midnight Whispers. Gregory Small and Richard Blaney serve as screenwriters for the first three movies and Alison Bingeman serves as screenwriter for the fourth movie Midnight Whispers.
