Lisette Olivera’s arrival at the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit was heralded as the first addition to the main cast in four years. Turns out, that fanfare might have been a tad premature. Olivera, slated to play Agent Syd Ortiz, is already packing her bags after filming just a handful of episodes for the CBS procedural’s seventh season. It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it stint that raises eyebrows about the stability of the BAU’s roster.
While viewers haven’t even met Agent Ortiz yet – her debut is scheduled for episode four or five – her departure is already confirmed. Apparently, taking over the spot left by recently departed Katherine Renee Kane’s Agent Tiffany Wallace was a tougher assignment than cracking a serial killer’s code.
This leaves John Boyd’s Stuart Scola partner-less once again after a brief flirtation with another temporary agent in the second episode. Is the BAU cursed when it comes to partnerships? Or is the casting department struggling to find someone who can handle the weekly grind of solving gruesome crimes?
Olivera’s post-FBI plans remain unclear, though she’s logged screen time on the Disney+ National Treasure series and the web series Total Eclipse. Meanwhile, FBI’s revolving door policy continues, leaving viewers wondering who – if anyone – will manage to stick around long enough to memorize everyone’s names.
