On the Monday May 20 episode of LIVE with Kelly and Mark, Daisy Ridley discusses her role as Gertrude “Trudy” Ederle in the upcoming biographical drama film “Young Woman and the Sea,” while Jameela Jamil talks about her fitness movement, “Move for Your Mind.”

Daisy Ridley, best known for her role in the Star Wars trilogy, takes on a new challenge in the upcoming biographical drama film “Young Woman and the Sea.” The film, directed by Joachim Rønning and written by Jeff Nathanson, is based on the 2009 book of the same name by Glenn Stout. It tells the inspiring true story of Gertrude “Trudy” Ederle, the first woman to swim across the English Channel. In addition to her gold medal at the 1924 Olympics, Ederle’s historic achievement in 1926 broke barriers and empowered women in sports. Ridley’s portrayal of Ederle showcases her range as an actress, and she has expressed excitement for audiences to experience the journey of this trailblazing swimmer.

Jamil, recognized for her roles in “The Good Place” and “She-Hulk,” has expanded her influence beyond the screen. Through her inclusive community platform, “I Weigh,” she aims to foster a positive relationship with fitness and empower women. Her fitness event series, “Move for Your Mind,” addresses the current state of women’s safety and the negative impact of fear on their physical and mental well-being. By equipping women with self-defense skills, Jamil strives to create a sense of community and enable women to feel safe while exercising in public spaces.
