Forget gleaming treasures and pirate gold. BBC One’s new series, Lost and Found in the Lakes, isn’t about striking it rich, but about striking emotional chords. This new 16-part series, premiering Monday, January 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM, follows a team of divers who scour the depths of England’s Lake District not for sunken doubloons, but for lost trinkets and treasures of sentimental value.
Joining these underwater archaeologists are a resourceful “social media detective” named Mui and a group of crafters ready to repurpose discarded items found along the way. It’s a mix of Antiques Roadshow meets River Hunters with a dash of heartwarming reunion show thrown in for good measure. Here is what to expect from the first five episodes.
In the first episode, “A Desperate Search,” the team tackles the seemingly impossible task of locating two lost rings in the vast expanse of the lakes. Meanwhile, a local artisan works their magic on abandoned scrap, turning trash into treasure.
The second episode, “The Lost Wedding Day” (airing Tuesday, January 7, 2025), ups the ante as the divers descend to their deepest depths yet to retrieve lost items for a recently married couple. While crafter Lucy attempts to piece together a shattered teapot, Mui goes on a digital hunt to return a memory-filled phone to its rightful owner.
“Graduation Memories Lost” (Wednesday, January 8, 2025) sees the team on a mission to recover precious graduation photos lost to the watery abyss. Crafter Jen, never one to shy away from a challenge, breathes new life into discarded tents and camping chairs. Mui, ever the online sleuth, launches a social media campaign to locate the owner of a found item.
Thursday, January 9, 2025, brings “Mystery of the Motorbike,” a thirty-year cold case involving – you guessed it – a missing motorbike. As the divers take the plunge, Mui follows clues related to a ring discovered on the fells, while crafter Sally finds artistic inspiration in discarded crockery.
Finally, on Monday, January 13, 2025, “A Missing Muppet” caps off the week with a search for a couple’s beloved, fifty-year-old mascot. An expert crafter transforms discarded items into a personalized keepsake, and the team races against time to find the owner of a damaged phone.
Lost and Found in the Lakes airs on BBC One, Mondays at 2:00 PM and Tuesday-Thursday at 2:30 PM.
