Channel 4 has commissioned a two-part documentary examining the case of Lucy Letby, a former neonatal nurse convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder seven others. The trial, which concluded in August 2023, was one of the longest murder trials in British legal history, spanning ten months.
The documentary, tentatively titled “The Trial of Lucy Letby,” is directed by Emmy award-winning and BAFTA-nominated filmmaker Daniel Bogado. It will examine the details of the case, including the retrial in July 2024 that resulted in a guilty verdict for the attempted murder of a seventh infant. Letby is currently serving fifteen whole-life prison terms for her crimes.
The documentary is produced by Blast Films for Channel 4. Executive producers are Danny Horan and Tanya Winston. The documentary was commissioned by Alisa Pomeroy, Head of Documentaries and Factual Entertainment, and Sacha Mirzoeff, Commissioning Editor.
