In the third episode of Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience, the band attempts to tackle a crucial aspect of K-pop stardom: the music video. With K-pop heavily focused on image, the group undergoes a style transformation with the help of stylists Cheri and Nara to embody the theme of their new song, “Life Is a Movie.”
Blaise, facing a crisis of confidence after a tough evaluation from head of training Hee Jun Yoon, also contends with a leg injury that sidelines him from training for three days. To foster team bonding, the boys participate in belt wrestling, a traditional Korean sport, under the guidance of their Korean culture mentor, Shindong from the K-pop group Super Junior.
After a rigorous week of training, the band films their first music video at a unique location: a disused fairground called Yongmaland. While they don’t have to sing live, they face the challenge of perfecting lip-syncing to their song. Will they be able to pull off this essential K-pop skill?
Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience, Episode 3 airs on BBC One on Saturday, 31 August 2024.
