Turning a passion into a profession is a dream for many. BBC One’s “Make It at Market” returns this Tuesday to offer guidance and support to two aspiring entrepreneurs. This episode, “Textile Upcycling and Stone Carving,” focuses on Rukhsana from Birmingham, a textile waste upcycler, and Jan from Herefordshire, an electrician who’s rediscovered his love for stone carving.
Rukhsana has the skills but lacks the confidence to promote herself. Mentor Zoe steps in to help her find her voice and highlight her unique talents. Meanwhile, Jan, who turned to stone carving during a period of ill health, is hoping to make a career switch. Mentor Louis recognizes his potential and guides him toward building a sustainable business. Dom and the team give Rukhsana the biggest challenge they have given any maker – leading a textile-upcycling revolution.
The episode follows these two makers through Dom’s intensive boot camp, where they’ll hone their skills, develop their business plans, and prepare to take their crafts to market. It’s a journey of self-discovery and the challenges of turning creativity into a livelihood. Can these hobbyists take the leap and build successful businesses?
Tune in to BBC One on Tuesday, March 18th at 3:45 PM to see if they make the cut.
