Ted Danson’s undercover antics are getting a collegiate twist. Netflix’s “A Man On The Inside,” the comedic spin on the Oscar-nominated documentary “The Mole Agent,” is back for a second season, and this time, Charles (Danson) is trading in his retirement home bingo card for a student ID.
Eleven new actors are joining the ensemble cast for this undercover operation, including Constance Marie, David Strathairn, Gary Cole, and Jason Mantzoukas. With an anthology format, each season of “A Man On The Inside” presents a fresh scenario for Charles to infiltrate. This time around, a generous donation from a wealthy businessman (Gary Cole) sets off a chain of events that leads to Charles’s new assignment at a college.
Constance Marie joins as Vanessa, a former con artist, while Strathairn takes on the role of Dr. Cole, head of the English Department at Wheeler College. Mantzoukas rounds out the faculty as Apollo Lambrakis, a contractor with literary aspirations. Jill Talley plays the perpetually stressed provost, Holly Bodgemark, with Linda Park as Elizabeth Muki, director of Fine Arts, and Lisa Gilroy as Kelseigh Rose, the new wife of billionaire Brad Vinick. On the student side, Madison Hu plays Claire, a Wheeler College junior. Max Greenfield portrays Jack Beringer, the university’s charismatic President, Michaela Conlin is economics professor Andrea Yi, and Sam Huntington plays journalism professor Max Griffin.
Fans of “The Good Place” and “Parks and Recreation” will be familiar with the comedic sensibilities of series creator and executive producer, Mike Schur. Season 1 saw Charles stuck in the surprisingly cutthroat world of retirement home politics.
A Man On The Inside is a Universal Television production for Netflix. Executive producers are Mike Schur.
