Mark Coles Smith To Host ABC Australia’s The Kimberley Nature Series; Premieres 13 May

ABC Australia has set a 13 May, 2025, premiere for The Kimberley, a three-part natural history series fronted by award-winning Nyikina actor Mark Coles Smith. The project, which will also stream on ABC iview, is a Wild Pacific Media production for the ABC, made in association with international broadcasters Love Nature and Arte France.

Coles Smith, who hails from the Fitzroy River area within The Kimberley, will guide viewers through the majestic and biodiverse region. The series is structured around the six distinct seasons of the Nyikina calendar—Lalin, Jirrbal, Willakarra, Koolawa, Barrakana, and Willbooroo—and will track the collaborative efforts of Traditional Owners and ecologists to preserve its unique wildlife.

The production secured major investment from Screen Australia and received support from Screen NSW, underscoring a significant commitment to the premium factual project.

Nick Robinson directs the series. Robinson also writes and produces alongside Peta Ayers and Coles Smith himself.

The Kimberley is slated to debut Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 8:00pm on ABC and ABC iview.
