So, the “honeymoon” phase of Married at First Sight Season 18 is apparently less about piña coladas and more about panicked glances. Episode 4, “Wedding Bliss or a Miss?”, finds our intrepid newlyweds already facing the kinds of speed bumps that would make a driving instructor nervous.
Let’s be honest, nobody expected smooth sailing. This is MAFS, after all, where the odds of lasting love are roughly equivalent to finding a parking spot in downtown Manhattan on a Saturday. Still, the sheer volume of early anxieties is…impressive. We’ve got financial fretting, eyebrow-raising age gaps, and at least one spouse still bunking with mom and dad.
And then there are the family brunches, those awkward post-wedding gatherings designed to expose every possible relational crack. One father apparently requests an STI test (yikes), while another spouse gets flagged for a somewhat overzealous “pursuit of perfection.” You know, just your typical in-law bonding activities.
Despite these initial misgivings—or perhaps fueled by the sheer terror of what they’ve gotten themselves into—the couples do eventually jet off on their honeymoons. Whether this leads to genuine connection or just more spectacular meltdowns, well, that’s the gamble, isn’t it?
Married at First Sight Season 18, Episode 4, “Wedding Bliss or a Miss?” airs Tuesday, November 12, at 8/7c on Lifetime.
