Actor Martin Clunes, known for “Doc Martin,” trades his stethoscope for a passport in his new travel series, “Islands of the Atlantic.” Premiering this Friday, Clunes begins an island-hopping adventure, exploring the unique cultures and creatures that call these isolated lands home.
His first stop: the tropical jungles and grasslands of Sao Tome and Principe, islands located off the coast of West Africa. Viewers can expect an up close and personal introduction to the islands’ intriguing inhabitants, from giant land snails to endangered sea turtles that Clunes helps rescue. From there, he ventures to the remote Bijagos Islands off Guinea Bissau, trekking across the savannah while meeting local predators and a unique tribe where women hold the power.
“Martin Clunes: Islands of the Atlantic” begins this Friday, 2 May at 9:00 PM GMT on ITV1.
