The award-winning journalist and broadcaster Martin Lewis has signed on as a regular co-host on Good Morning Britain, just days after Chancellor Jeremy Hunt mentioned his invaluable contribution to the 2023 Budget during his speech to the House of Commons.
Starting with a tax year end special on March 29 at 6 a.m. on ITV1 and ITVX, Martin Lewis will co-host with Susanna Reid on several Wednesdays this year, solidifying his role as a key presenter on the Emmy-winning morning programme.
Together, they will question lawmakers on issues that matter to the public and get instant feedback from viewers via in-studio phone calls.
“To have the ability to hold politicians to account, over the cost of living, is a privilege and a responsibility. It’s a slight gear change from my usual work, but after years of answering complex questions, it’s nice for once to be asking them. So I was delighted when ITV offered me the role of regular presenter,” said Martin. “The difficulty came with working it around my day-job, as Money Saving Expert, which is always my priority. So I’m hopeful the solution we’ve come up with, to lock in a dozen special shows a year, sitting alongside Susanna Reid’s brilliant journalism, is one the show’s viewers will welcome.”
At the upcoming 2023 BAFTA Television Awards, both GMB and The Martin Lewis Money Show Live have been shortlisted for awards; GMB is up for Best News Coverage and The Martin Lewis Money Show Live is up for Best Features.
With a weekly viewership of 4.7 million, Good Morning Britain is having one of its best beginnings to the year since its debut in 2014. GMB’s over 4.2 million fans on social media are a reflection of this success.
