To celebrate her 90th birthday, Mary Berry opens her kitchen to friends old and new for a fond look back at a remarkable career in food. In this opening episode, she is joined by comedian Tom Allen for a trip down memory lane, sharing stories and recipes that hold a special place in her heart.
The episode sees the pair take to the water for a boat ride before heading into the kitchen to cook up some of Mary’s all-time favourite dishes. On the menu is a classic pan-fried cod, a comforting bread and butter pudding inspired by her mother’s own recipe, and a surprisingly modern Thai chicken traybake. It is an hour of warmth, nostalgia, and of course, impeccably good food. What new stories will Mary share from her incredible lifetime of cooking?
Mary at 90: A Lifetime of Cooking airs Tuesday October 28, at 7:30 PM on BBC Two HD.
