The Masked Singer “Miley Cyrus Night”

The Masked Singer Key Art

I’m not saying The Masked Singer is running low on ideas. I’m just saying a Miley Cyrus theme night might be a tad specific, even for a show that once had an entire episode devoted to “TV Theme Songs.” But hey, who am I to judge? If the remaining Group C singers want to belt out “Party in the USA” while dressed as a giant sequined banana, more power to them.

This Wednesday, FOX’s costumed karaoke contest is expected to bring its usual brand of musical mayhem, but with a distinctly Cyrus-flavored twist. Contestants are set to tackle a range of hits from the pop star’s catalog, including “Used To Be Young,” “Midnight Sky,” “Wrecking Ball,” and the tearjerker ballad “When I Look At You” (from The Last Song, for those keeping score). It’s a gamble. Can these mystery vocalists handle the emotional range? Will the panel offer anything remotely insightful? These questions, frankly, haunt me.

As always, Nick Cannon presides over the festivities, while Ken Jeong, Rita Ora, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg offer their typically dubious guesses. I only hope they’ve brushed up on their Miley Cyrus trivia, or at least have a working knowledge of what a “Wrecking Ball” actually is (beyond the literal definition, of course).

Tune in Wednesday, November 20 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on FOX to see if The Masked Singer can make this theme night work, or if it all comes crashing down like, well, you know.
