The Masked Singer Season 13 Premiere: Group A to Perform “SexyBack” (FOX, Wednesday, February 12, 2025)

The Masked Singer Key Art

Is it just me, or does the sheer absurdity of The Masked Singer somehow make it appointment television? I can’t explain it, but here I am, previewing another season of this costumed karaoke contest. FOX clearly knows what they’re doing, returning with a “lucky” 13th season premiering Wednesday, February 12th at 8:00 PM.

This time around, we’re starting with Group A, and the song choices are, shall we say, interesting. From Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack” to Pink’s “Just Give Me a Reason,” the range is as eclectic as the costumes themselves. We’ve also got “The Door” thrown in there. Who picked these songs? A dartboard with random Billboard hits pinned to it? And how does one do “La Bamba” in a giant squirrel suit? We’ll have to wait and see.

Our panel of celebrity detectives – Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke – are back to their usual shenanigans, no doubt offering up outlandish guesses and forced laughter. Nick Cannon returns as host, presumably still sporting a collection of hats that could rival a haberdashery.

The real question is: will this season’s costumes reach the same heights (or depths) of ridiculousness as past seasons? I’m talking banana splits, eggplants, and that nightmarish Thingamajig. The bar is high, people. High, or perhaps, disturbingly low, depending on your perspective. Tune in to FOX on February 12th to see how it all unfolds. Or don’t. Maybe read a book instead. But I’ll be watching, rubbernecking at the spectacle of it all.

The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8:00 PM on FOX.
