Masters of Illusion: The Bold and the Beauty with a Crossbow (The CW, Friday, February 7, 2025)

Is it a bird? A plane? No, it’s just another Friday night with magicians pulling rabbits out of…well, you know. The CW’s Masters of Illusion returns with an episode that sounds like a rejected Bond title: “The Bold and the Beauty with a Crossbow.” While the exact nature of this crossbow-related illusion remains unclear, one can only hope it involves more David Copperfield and less William Tell.

This week’s lineup boasts a diverse roster of magical talent. My Uyen, Michael Blomeke, and Naathan Phan are set to bring their own distinct styles to the stage. Uyen’s elegant sleight of hand, Blomeke’s comedic timing, and Phan’s blend of magic and martial arts suggest a varied evening of entertainment.

The episode also features Jonathan Levit, Andi Gladwin, and perennial Masters of Illusion favorite Chipper Lowell. Levit’s mind-reading feats, Gladwin’s card manipulations, and Lowell’s comedic magic should provide a balanced mix of classic illusion and modern flair.

And then there’s Anna Dangerous. The name alone suggests something risky, perhaps even slightly reckless. Will she saw a person in half? Escape from a straitjacket while suspended upside down? Or maybe just make a really impressive soufflé? Only time will tell. One thing’s for sure: the episode seems determined to deliver on its title’s promise of boldness. Tune in to see if these magicians can actually conjure up something surprising, or if it’s just the same old tricks dressed up in new, slightly more dangerous packaging.
