Alex Scott returns to present the first episode of the new season of Match of the Day 2, airing on BBC One, on Sunday, 18 August 2024, at 10:30 pm. The episode features highlights from two highly anticipated Premier League matches.
The first match sees Chelsea face off against the reigning champions, Manchester City. This fixture marks the competitive debut for Chelsea’s new manager, Enzo Maresca, who previously led Leicester City to the Championship title and worked alongside Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. It will be intriguing to see how he fares against his former team.
The second game is a London derby between Brentford and Crystal Palace. Crystal Palace will be aiming to continue their impressive form from the latter part of last season, which began after the appointment of manager Oliver Glasner.
