Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming service, Max, is finally launching in Australia on March 31, 2025. The service combines content from HBO, Warner Bros., the DC Universe, and Discovery, offering a wide array of shows and movies. Foxtel subscribers are to get access to Max as part of their existing subscription.
Here’s the Lowdown: Max will be the home of HBO Originals and Max Originals, including returning seasons of popular series like The Last of Us (Season 2 debuts April 14), And Just Like That…, House of the Dragon, Euphoria, and Peacemaker. Highly anticipated new shows, including It: Welcome to Derry, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will also be available. Classic series like Friends (available from April 1), The Big Bang Theory, and Rick and Morty are also heading to Max.
What This Means Now: Australian viewers will have access to a vast library of content, including recent blockbuster movies like Barbie, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice and Twisters, alongside major franchises like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and the DC Universe.
The Bigger Picture: This launch marks a significant expansion for Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming ambitions. Max is accessible on major devices, and via app stores. The service is also coming built in to the brand new Hubbl units. The launch is set to intensify the competition. The partnership with Foxtel via Hubbl shows a strategic approach to gaining a substantial subscriber base quickly. Max will offer various subscription tiers, including ad-supported and premium options, with full details to be released closer to the launch date.
