Micah Balfour is set to join the cast of the long-running BBC soap opera, ‘EastEnders’, as Junior Knight, the estranged son of George Knight (Colin Salmon). The actor, known for his roles in ‘Emmerdale’, ‘Doctor Who’, and ‘Death in Paradise’, will make his debut in Walford later this month.
The new storyline will see George Knight come face-to-face with his estranged son, marking a shocking development in their complicated father-son relationship. It is clear that Junior’s arrival will create further turmoil for George, who has been struggling since the death of his adoptive mother, Gloria.
Speaking about his new role, Balfour expressed his excitement at joining the iconic show, stating, “I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders as part of the Knight family. I grew up watching the show and many of the characters have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, so walking onto the Square for the first time was the most surreal experience of my career!”
He also shared his admiration for working alongside veteran actor Colin Salmon and other cast members, including Francesca Henry and Molly Rainford. Balfour teased that his character, Junior, is “a complex man” who will “cause a bit of a stir” in the show.
‘EastEnders’ executive producer, Chris Clenshaw, welcomed the addition of Balfour to the cast, saying, “I’m delighted to welcome Micah Balfour to the cast of EastEnders as he takes on the role of Junior Knight. Although Junior has been referenced since The Knights arrived in the Square, the audience knows very little about George’s son and the circumstances behind their estrangement.”
Clenshaw further teased that Junior’s arrival will thrust him into the heart of the drama and that there is more to the enigmatic character than meets the eye.
Balfour is currently filming his first episodes.
