The Midwich Cuckoos, a British sci-fi horror series, is set to premiere on Acorn TV and Sundance Now on Thursday. The seven-part series is an adaptation of John Wyndham’s popular 1957 novel of the same name.

Originally aired in the UK on Sky in 2022, the show has been retitled for American audiences as The Midwich Cuckoos: Village of the Damned, drawing a clear connection to the early 1960’s movie Village of the Damned (which was the first adaptation of the book and renamed for the US market).

The series is centred around the tranquil setting of Midwich, a small English village. However, one summer evening, this peaceful community is disrupted when every person suddenly falls into an unconscious state. As the residents awaken from their mysterious blackout, they are met with a horrifying realisation. Every woman of child bearing age in the village is now pregnant.
