BBC Four presents the third episode of Ministry of Evil: The Twisted Cult of Tony Alamo, a four-part documentary series exposing the dark world of the Alamo Christian Foundation and its leaders, Tony and Susan Alamo.

In this third episode, airing on Tuesday 16 April, viewers will witness the escalating tensions as Tony Alamo, a self-styled televangelist turned cult leader, faces legal troubles and attempts to evade arrest. While on the run, Alamo orders his loyal followers to leave the compound, taking his wife’s body with them.

The episode delves into the disturbing reality of Alamo’s abusive behaviour, which included marrying young girls and sexually abusing children as young as eight years old. Former members, haunted by their experiences, urge the FBI to intervene and put an end to Alamo’s reign of terror.

The series uncovers the manipulative tactics and false promises of personal salvation used by the Alamos to recruit vulnerable individuals in the 1960s. What started as a ministry soon devolved into a cult, with members exploited and subjected to labour violations and abuse.

The fourth and final episode follows immediately after the conclusion of this one.
