PBS has greenlit Miss Scarlet for a sixth season, following the romantic Season 5 finale on February 16. However, actor Evan McCabe, who plays Oliver Fitzroy, will not be returning.

Here’s the Lowdown: Miss Scarlet Season 6 is officially happening, with filming starting this month in Belgrade, Serbia. Kate Phillips (Eliza Scarlet) and Tom Durant-Pritchard (Alexander Blake) are confirmed to return, along with other cast regulars Cathy Belton (Ivy), Paul Bazely (Clarence), Simon Ludders (Mr. Potts), Tim Chipping (Detective Phelps), and Ansu Kabia (Moses). New cast members include Sam Buchanan as Detective George Willows and Grace Hogg-Robinson as Isabel Summers.

What This Means Now: While the show is renewed, fans will be disappointed to learn that Evan McCabe (Fitzroy) won’t be back, as he’s been cast in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Hamlet. The announcement also omits mention of Felix Scott’s character, Nash, although it’s implied Nash will still be part of the narrative, despite being in Australia.

The Bigger Picture: Season 6 will explore the developing relationship between Eliza and Blake as they try to balance work and romance. Additionally, newlyweds Ivy and Potts will adjust to married life, a new detective arrives at Scotland Yard, and Nash continues to create disruptions from afar. Moses Valentine makes a return, assisting Eliza when she needs it most. The exact premiere date is yet to be announced, but production is already underway. Kate Phillips will also appear in Wolf Hall Season 2, premiering March 23.
