The season premiere of Moonflower Murders, the sequel to Magpie Murders, airing on PBS on Sunday, September 15, 2024, introduces viewers once again to former book editor Susan Ryeland, who has left her publishing career behind and now runs a hotel in Crete with her partner, Andreas.
Their peaceful life is disrupted when a couple arrives, seeking Susan’s help in finding their missing daughter. The daughter’s disappearance is believed to be linked to a murder that occurred at the couple’s hotel in England, as well as to an Alan Conway novel inspired by the case.
In the novel, “Atticus Pünd Takes The Case,” Conway explores the mysterious strangle murder of Melissa James, an ex-actress, looking into the altercations she had with various characters before her untimely death. The TV adaptation mirrors this intriguing plot, with Susan now drawn into a real-life mystery that echoes the twists and turns of the fictional story.
Susan becomes convinced that the key to finding the couple’s missing daughter lies in unraveling the truth behind the murder depicted in Conway’s novel. She heads back to England, determined to uncover any secrets that may have been hidden within the pages of the book.
Moonflower Murders premieres Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 9:00 PM on PBS.
