Moonshiners “Code Enforcement”

Moonshiners Key Art

The backwoods shenanigans of Discovery’s Moonshiners continue in “Code Enforcement,” an episode that looks to deliver the usual blend of outlaw ingenuity, interpersonal conflicts, and the constant threat of legal repercussions. This week, the stakes are higher than ever as liquor thieves, a successful peach-rye experiment, and a particularly aggressive act of sabotage threaten to boil over in the Appalachian hills.

Mark and Digger, perpetually plagued by pilferers, finally seem to have caught their culprit on camera. One can only assume this will lead to a tense confrontation, possibly involving some choice words and maybe a banjo duel (okay, probably not the banjo duel). Meanwhile, Tickle, Josh, and Henry’s Peach-Rye recipe is making waves all the way up in Philadelphia. This success could mean big things for the trio, assuming they can manage the increased demand without, you know, getting arrested or blowing something up.

But the real drama in “Code Enforcement” seems to be brewing between Mike and Mark Rogers. Mike, in a move that can only be described as a power play of pure Appalachian pettiness, has bought out Mark’s sugar supplier. This leaves Mark scrambling for ingredients and likely fuming. I can almost picture him staring into the middle distance, muttering about the unfairness of it all while cradling a mason jar filled with something decidedly stronger than sweet tea. Just how far will this rivalry escalate?

This episode seems poised to deliver the usual Moonshiners mix of high-stakes distilling and backwoods drama. Will Mark and Digger finally confront their sticky-fingered nemesis? Can Tickle, Josh, and Henry keep up with the demand for their Peach-Rye concoction? And just how far will Mike go to disrupt Mark Rogers’ operation? “Code Enforcement” looks set to address these questions and maybe throw in a few surprises along the way.

Moonshiners airs Tuesdays at 8:00 PM ET on Discovery.
