Moonshiners “Spousal Privilege” (Discovery, Tuesday, February 11, 2025)

Moonshiners Key Art

The charm of Moonshiners isn’t just the illicit thrill of backwoods distilling; it’s the ingenuity these folks display when the pressure’s on. This week, that pressure comes in the form of increased legal scrutiny, forcing our favorite bootleggers to get even more creative.

Mark and Digger, ever the pragmatic pair, find themselves in a legal bind. Their solution? Recruit a new team member who, thanks to a convenient legal loophole (we’re guessing spousal privilege), can handle the riskier aspects of their operation without fear of testifying against them. Clever, but will it be enough to outsmart the ever-watchful eyes of the law? The feds might not be buying the sudden influx of in-laws into the moonshine business.

Meanwhile, Tickle and the Laws stumble upon a potential goldmine – or should we say, sorghum mine? A windfall of free sorghum seeds has them dusting off an untested family recipe, hoping to turn a zero-dollar investment into liquid gold. Of course, untested recipes in the world of moonshining are about as reliable as a screen door on a submarine. This could be a recipe for disaster, or perhaps a surprisingly tasty batch of white lightning.

As always, the underlying tension between tradition and innovation fuels the episode. These moonshiners walk a fine line, honoring time-honored methods while constantly adapting to the pressures of a changing landscape, both legal and otherwise. One thing’s for sure: they’ll need more than just good ol’ mountain dew to keep their operations afloat.

Moonshiners airs Tuesday, February 11, 2025, on Discovery.
