HBO is adding a dose of true-crime darkness to its Sunday night lineup with The Mortician, a new documentary series that takes us behind the curtain on a family-owned funeral home with a chilling secret. Premiering June 1st at 9 PM ET, the series centers on Lamb Funeral Home in Pasadena, California, and the disturbing practices of its ambitious heir, David Sconce.
Sconce, who took over the business from his family, began exploiting the bereaved for profit, transforming what should have been a place of solace into a ghoulish enterprise. The premiere episode raises questions about a suspicious death linked to the crematorium’s suspiciously high turnover rate.
