Hallmark holiday movies are a genre unto themselves. They’re predictable, heartwarming, and occasionally dipped in enough saccharine to induce a diabetic coma. But let’s be honest, that’s why we watch them. And in this particular corner of the holiday TV universe, Mrs. Miracle, played with relentlessly cheerful charm by Rachel Boston, reigns supreme. So, naturally, her return in “Debbie Macomber’s Joyful Mrs. Miracle” is cause for, well, joy. Or at least mild Hallmark-induced excitement.
This time around, Mrs. Miracle’s festive intervention focuses on a trio of siblings wrestling with the fate of their family business, which honestly, sounds about as exciting as watching paint dry. But don’t worry, Hallmark wouldn’t leave us hanging without a dash of romance. Apparently, along with guiding these quarrelsome siblings (played by Pascal Lamothe-Kipnes, Matthew James Dowden, and Max Lloyd-Jones), Mrs. Miracle aka Annie Merkel, will be rekindling some old flames, specifically between Lamothe-Kipnes’ Charlotte character and the manor’s caretaker Austin, played by Tanner Novlan. Will their reunion be a heartwarming return to first love or a messy entanglement of yuletide misunderstandings? Tune in to find out.
The setup sounds like a remix of every Hallmark Christmas movie trope – squabbling relatives, failing businesses, a dash of nostalgia, and a heaping spoonful of holiday magic. But honestly, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? “Debbie Macomber’s Joyful Mrs. Miracle” looks to deliver precisely the sort of predictable holiday comfort food that Hallmark viewers crave.
“Debbie Macomber’s Joyful Mrs. Miracle” premieres Thursday, November 28 at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel.
