Murder By Medic continues with an examination of the case of Chaz Higgs, a critical care nurse convicted of murdering his wife, Kathy Augustine, by injecting her with the drug succinylcholine. Augustine, a state controller, was initially believed to have died from a heart attack brought on by the stress of a political campaign.
However, an autopsy revealed the presence of the drug in her system, leading to Higgs being charged, found guilty, and sentenced to life in prison.
The documentary looks at the chilling details of the case, exploring how Higgs, with his medical knowledge and access to the drug, carried out the murder. It includes interviews with loved ones of the victim, investigators, and legal experts, as well as key audio and video evidence, to piece together the motive and means of this disturbing crime.
