Lifetime’s latest thriller, My Amish Double Life, throws a bonnet over the usual “forbidden love” trope and adds a dash of murder. The film centers on Emma (Lexi Minetree), an Amish girl who, let’s face it, is bored. Daytime brings the predictable rhythms of Amish life, but when night falls, Emma and her friend Rebecca (Rachel Coopes) trade their plain dresses for something a little more… sparkly. Think sneaking out to clubs, flirting with boys – the usual teenage rebellion, but with significantly higher stakes.
This double life gets a whole lot more complicated when Emma witnesses a murder, suddenly thrusting her quiet community into the harsh glare of a criminal investigation. The central tension, of course, is whether Emma will expose her secret life to help solve the crime, potentially jeopardizing her standing within the Amish community. It’s a classic dilemma: personal freedom versus tradition, spiced up with a healthy dose of suspense.
The supporting cast includes Lesa Wilson and Ty Trumbo.
My Amish Double Life airs on Lifetime at 8:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
