In the latest episode of My Kind of Town, Ian Hamilton and his guide dog, Major, visit Bathgate in West Lothian, Scotland. Known for its rich industrial history, Bathgate is now a popular commuter town for those working in nearby Edinburgh.
Ian starts his culinary journey by lending a hand at an award-winning butcher shop, where he generously offers to taste-test some of their delicious meat products. To work off all the tasty treats, Ian then climbs a hill to explore Neolithic remains, providing a glimpse into the area’s ancient past.
He also investigates the town’s stunning historical theatre, where he meets and interacts with the local brass band, as well as a group of talented and ambitious young filmmakers who are making their mark on the town’s cultural scene.
After a busy day of exploring and engaging with the local community, Ian finally gets some well-deserved relaxation at Scotland’s biggest floatation centre, where he can unwind and reflect on his fascinating journey through Bathgate.
My Kind of Town: Bathgate airs Thursday, 5 September 2024, at 8:30 pm on BBC Scotland.
