The season premiere of My Kitchen Rules introduced audiences to competitive duo, brothers Rob and Liam, who impressed with their Instant Restaurant, Yakety Yaks. The siblings from Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula achieved a total score of 84 out of 110, displaying their culinary abilities and setting a high standard.
Their menu featured local produce, starting with Safety Beach Mussels in a Cajun sauce for the entree. The main course was Beef Short Ribs with Nduja Cauliflower Cheese, and for dessert, they served Peanut Butter S’mores with a standout Bourbon Caramel sauce.
Guest teams, including Hannah and Lawrence from Western Australia, Danny and Sonia from Queensland, and Adelaide’s Ash and Cassie, joined judges Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel. The judges were quick to let the contestants know of an upcoming twist.
Competitive tensions rose as friends Mike and Pete, also from Victoria, critiqued Rob and Liam’s choices, setting the tone for a robust rivalry with fellow Italian duo Simone and Viviana. Mike revealed their strategy, aiming to deceive their opponents and ultimately claim the $100,000 prize.
Despite some constructive feedback on the entree, the judges praised the brothers’ main course and dessert. Colin commended the tenderness of the beef ribs, while Manu appreciated the seasoning and presentation. The dessert, in particular, stood out with its exceptional sauce, earning high scores from both judges.
My Kitchen Rules continues tonight on Channel 7.
