Discovery’s “Mysteries of the Abandoned: Hidden America” returns this Wednesday, venturing into forgotten corners of the United States to unearth the stories buried beneath the rubble and ruin. This week’s episode, “America’s Gun Factory,” takes aim at a company town that once churned out the firearms that shaped the Wild West.
“Hidden America” also explores a building complex instrumental in transforming global communications, a major contrast to the dusty streets of the abandoned gun town. We also get a look at an old mine bearing the scars of a deadly labor dispute, and the decaying remains of a socialite’s once-grand mansion, now reclaimed by the forest.
