“Mysteries of the Unknown” Tackles Ice Age, Mammoth Island, and Vanished Plane (Travel, Monday, January 20, 2025)

Mysteries of the Unknown Key Art

Some of us like our history served straight up, with dates, names, and maybe a dash of context. Others prefer a little more…mystery. For those in the latter camp, the Travel Channel reliably provides, and this Monday, January 20, at 8:00 PM EST, Don Wildman returns with another episode of “Mysteries of the Unknown” to scratch that itch for the historically bizarre.

This week’s episode, “Ice King, Mammoth Island, and Secret of the Stardust,” features a typically eclectic mix of historical enigmas. First up, Wildman investigates a businessman who, apparently unsatisfied with the pace of natural climate change, decided to kickstart his own personal Ice Age, presumably for commercial gain. Was he a visionary genius or a reckless lunatic? The answer, as always, lies buried somewhere in the historical record, waiting for Wildman to unearth it.

Next, we journey to a remote Alaskan island where a surprising discovery supposedly rewrote history books. What could this revelation be? Ancient alien landing strip? Lost tribe of Vikings? Giant prehistoric sloth sanctuary? One can only speculate, but Wildman will undoubtedly provide a more plausible (and hopefully equally fascinating) explanation.

Finally, the episode tackles the mystery of a vanished plane, a case that baffled aviation experts and fueled countless conspiracy theories. Was it a mechanical failure? Pilot error? Or something more…unknown? Wildman will sift through the evidence, separating fact from fiction, and hopefully bringing some clarity to this airborne enigma.

“Mysteries of the Unknown” airs Monday, January 20, 2025, at 8:00 PM EST on the Travel Channel.
