Could the lost tomb of Montezuma lie beneath Blind Frog Ranch? That’s the question hanging heavy in the air—along with that persistent sulfur smell—as Discovery’s Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch airs a new special this Wednesday at 10 PM ET. Titled Secrets Beneath the Stone, the episode brings a team of experts to the ranch to examine recently unearthed artifacts and potentially rewrite history.
The Ollingers, now several seasons deep into their high-desert treasure hunt, have amassed enough weird finds to warrant outside opinions. Geologist Hector Estrella makes the case that the strange rumbles plaguing the property are the product of underground water movement. Meanwhile, researcher Roger Blomquist suggests that the altar at the Bead Site could be a marker for Montezuma’s final resting place—right under that imposing rock formation.
Adding to the Aztec intrigue is Bob Morton, who authenticates the Jade Bead as a likely ceremonial artifact—giving further credence to the theory that the ranch has deep ties to ancient Mexico. But as always with Blind Frog Ranch, the more answers that surface, the stranger things get. This time, the special throws paranormal investigator Mark Julian into the mix, who posits that the ongoing dig has awakened a dark shapeshifting presence.
The episode airs Wednesday, June 11 at 10:00 PM ET on Discovery.
