This Sunday, Discovery’s “Naked and Afraid” throws two survivalists into the heart of the American wilderness – or what’s left of it post-torrential downpours and the rather unfortunate incident involving a catastrophic fire at their camp. In “Punched by the Prairie State,” a marine biologist from Mexico and a Viking fisherman from Norway are paired together for a standard 21-day challenge. Standard, that is, if you consider being stripped bare, given one personal item, and left to fend for yourself in the wilds “standard.”
This season is eighteen for the series and features a variety of ecosystems across the globe. The show isn’t about winning a prize; it’s about testing the limits of human endurance, resilience, and the ability to make fire without matches (or pants). With scarce food sources and the elements working against them, the marine biologist’s scientific knowledge will clash with the Viking fisherman’s more, shall we say, hands-on approach.
Will they find common ground (and some edible grubs)? Or will the prairie state deliver a knockout blow? Find out on Discovery, Sunday, May 11 at 8:00 PM ET.
