National Christmas Tree Lighting 2024 Key Art

CBS is decking the halls and dusting off the tinsel for the 2024 National Christmas Tree Lighting, airing live from the Ellipse at The White House and President’s Park in Washington, D.C., on Friday, December 20, at 8:00 PM. This annual yuletide tradition, presented by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation, returns with enough musical firepower to melt even the Grinchiest of hearts.

Country music star Mickey Guyton, known for her soaring vocals and commanding stage presence, pulls double duty as both host and performer. Joining her in spreading holiday cheer are a diverse group of musical artists, including Adam Blackstone, Muni Long, Stephen Sanchez, Trombone Shorty, James Taylor, The War And Treaty, and the always-welcome Trisha Yearwood. Expect a mix of timeless holiday classics and perhaps a few contemporary twists on festive favorites.

Adding a touch of patriotic flair to the evening’s entertainment will be the Airmen of Note, one of the six musical ensembles comprising the U.S. Air Force Band. Their precision and musicality should offer a welcome counterpoint to the pop-infused performances.

If you’re looking for subversive holiday programming, you’ve come to the wrong place. But if you enjoy a good sing-along and appreciate the time-honored traditions of the season, the National Christmas Tree Lighting might be just the ticket. Tune in and let the warm fuzzies wash over you.
