PBS’s “Nature” has taken viewers to the farthest corners of the globe for over four decades, earning a mantelpiece full of awards (over 600, to be somewhat exact). This Wednesday, the series returns to Africa, exploring a land resurrected from the brink. “Katavi: Africa’s Fallen Paradise, Salvation” examines a region ravaged by drought, now experiencing a surge of life thanks to the return of the rains.
The episode focuses on the Katavi ecosystem’s remarkable recovery. Buffalo herds, once decimated, now thunder across the plains, their numbers growing with the renewed abundance of food and water. Meanwhile, young lion cubs face their first hunting lessons, a crucial step towards adulthood and a sign of the ecosystem finding its balance once more.
“Nature” has always had a knack for finding these compelling stories of survival and renewal. Tune in to PBS this Wednesday, April 16th at 8:00 PM to witness Katavi’s transformation.
