AMC sets sail with “Nautilus,” a new 10-part adventure drama diving into the depths of Jules Verne’s classic “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.” But don’t expect a simple retelling. This version, premiering Sunday, June 29th at 9pm ET/PT on both AMC and AMC+, gives Captain Nemo a fresh origin story, fueled by revenge.

Shazad Latif takes the helm as Nemo, reimagined as a disgraced Indian Prince robbed of his birthright by the East India Mercantile Company. Burning with a thirst for retribution, Nemo commandeers a state-of-the-art submarine prototype, gathering a motley crew of prisoners as he embarks on a perilous quest to uncover a hidden Viking treasure.

Joining Latif on this high-seas adventure are Georgia Flood, Céline Menville, and Thierry Fremont. Look out for some familiar faces in guest roles too, including Richard E. Grant, Anna Torv, and Noah Taylor.

“Nautilus” delivers a double dose of episodes for its premiere, with the remaining eight installments airing weekly on Sundays, leading up to a two-part finale on August 17th. Developed by Moonriver TV and Seven Stories, with James Dormer serving as writer and executive producer, “Nautilus” has already garnered attention for its unique take on a beloved classic.
