NBC has pulled the plug on the Lopez family sitcom, “Lopez vs. Lopez.” The show, which followed three generations of the Lopez family tackling a generational clash, will not be returning for a fourth season. The final season, consisting of 13 episodes, concluded its run in February.
George Lopez, Mayan Lopez, Selenis Leyva, Brice Gonzalez, Al Madrigal, and Matt Shively brought the Lopez family to life on the screen. The show’s central conflict explored the generational divide between George, a working-class father with some familiar flaws like being an absent parent, infidelity and gambling, and his teenage daughter, Maya. Their attempts to repair their relationship formed the heart of the narrative.
Despite the cast’s strong performances, “Lopez vs. Lopez” consistently struggled with viewership. The third season, while showing a slight rise in total viewers compared to the previous season, still didn’t achieve substantial ratings, averaging 0.20 in the 18-49 demographic and 1.98 million viewers.
With NBC aiming to increase its NBA game broadcasts, the network has reportedly reallocated programming time. This cancellation affects the already shrinking space available for primetime sitcoms. This cancellation follows others on the NBC schedule today, including “Found,” “The Irrational,” “Night Court,” and “Suits LA.”
