NBC’s Night Court Renewed for Season 3
NBC has officially renewed comedy series “Night Court” for a third season, with the announcement coming just weeks after the season 2 finale aired on March 26, 2024.
“Night Court” is a revival of the classic ’80s sitcom of the same name and centers on Judge Abby Stone, portrayed by Melissa Rauch. The show follows Abby’s journey as she takes on the challenge of overseeing the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court, just as her late father did before her.
The first season, which premiered on January 17, 2023, received generally positive reviews, and the show was quickly renewed for a second season. However, the Hollywood strikes in 2023 delayed the release of season 2, which eventually premiered on December 23, 2023.
While specific plot details for season 3 are yet to be revealed, fans can expect the zany humor and memorable guest characters that have become the show’s trademark. The dynamic between Abby and former night court district attorney Dan Fielding, played by John Larroquette, has been a cornerstone so far.
The show has also brought back several actors from the original series, including Marsha Warfield, Brent Spiner, and Annie O’Donnell, offering up a slice of nostalgia for long-time fans.
