“NCIS: ORIGINS” delivered a solid dose of mystery and personal drama this week with “To Have and to Hold.” The case du jour? A missing person with a twist. Master Sergeant Joshua Dane reported his wife, Sarah, missing, but Sarah wasn’t your average housewife. Fresh out of prison after serving three years for defrauding her clients, she had a laundry list of potential enemies eager for payback.
The NCIS team, always up for a challenge, dug into Sarah’s past, discovering that her victims had only received a fraction of their stolen money. The team found that angry calls had been made to the Dane residence following Sarah’s release, adding fuel to the suspicion that her disappearance might not be voluntary. The house was owned outright by Joshua thanks to an inheritance, shielding it from seizure during Sarah’s trial. The team discovered that Joshua had returned home early after Sarah didn’t answer his calls, finding her purse and keys, suggesting she hadn’t planned on leaving.
Meanwhile, back at NCIS headquarters, Mary Jo faced a personal crisis of her own. Served with divorce papers out of the blue, she’s blindsided by the legal end to a marriage she thought had been over for years. Her colleagues, already assuming she was divorced, offered comfort and surprise in equal measure. Thankfully, Lala stepped in, providing support and connecting Mary Jo with her sister, a lawyer, to help. It’s a small moment of grace amidst the usual procedural machinations.
“NCIS: ORIGINS” airs Mondays at 10:00 PM ET on CBS.
