A wellness empire, two charismatic influencers, and a mountain of lies. That’s the potent cocktail Netflix is serving up in its new limited series, “Apple Cider Vinegar,” slated for release in 2025. Based on the book “The Woman Who Fooled the World,” the series looks at the true-ish story of two young women who broke the internet with their seemingly miraculous wellness cures. But as the title suggests, this story takes a bitter turn. Check out the teaser trailer below.
The series follows the trajectory of these two online personalities, whose claims of conquering life-threatening illnesses through wellness regimens garnered them a massive following. “Apple Cider Vinegar” will expose the shaky foundation upon which their empire was built, examining the culture of online validation and the potential consequences of unchecked influence. Kaitlyn Dever and Alycia Debnam-Carey lead a strong cast.
Directed by Jeffrey Walker and created by Samantha Strauss, “Apple Cider Vinegar” appears poised to be more than just another exposé. With a cast that also includes Aisha Dee, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Ashley Zukerman, Mark Coles Smith, Susie Porter, Matt Nable, Phoenix Raei, Chai Hansen, Richard Davies, Kieran Darcy-Smith, Catherine McClements, and Essie Davis, the series will explore the broader implications of this story, examining the intersection of social media, the wellness industry, and the allure of quick fixes in a world often craving easy answers.
“Apple Cider Vinegar” was filmed in Melbourne, Australia, with post-production taking place in NSW, Australia. The limited series is a See-Saw Films production for Netflix. Executive Producers are Emile Sherman, Iain Canning, and Joanna Werner, with Lucy Kitada as Co-Executive Producer.
