Netflix has released the official trailer for its upcoming series ‘KAOS’, giving a glimpse into this bold reinterpretation of Greek mythology. The series stars Jeff Goldblum as Zeus, the king of the gods and ruler of the world, who finds his power suddenly threatened.
Written by BAFTA-winning screenwriter Charlie Covell of ‘The End of the F***ing World’ fame, ‘KAOS’ presents a contemporary twist on ancient stories, exploring themes of love, power, and the underworld. The trailer introduces a diverse cast of characters, including Janet McTeer as Hera, David Thewlis as Hades, and Rakie Ayola as Persephone, portraying the gods as a dysfunctional family unaware of the potential threat posed by mortals.
Zeus’s reign takes an unexpected turn when he discovers a wrinkle on his forehead, sparking paranoia about an ancient prophecy foretelling his downfall. This triggers a spiral of self-doubt and paranoia, as he becomes convinced that his fall from power is imminent. The plot orchestrated by his former friend and current prisoner, Prometheus, adds to the intrigue, as he enlists humans to join the mission against Zeus.
The cast for ‘KAOS’ also includes Cliff Curtis as Poseidon, Stephen Dillane as Prometheus, Aurora Perrineau as Riddy, and Nabhaan Rizwan as Dionysus. The series will also include cameo appearances by Billie Piper and Suzy Eddie Izzard.
‘KAOS’ is set to launch on Netflix on 29 August 2024.
